SparkFun RN-XV WiFly Module with Wire Antenna

The SparkFun RN-XV WiFly Module is a certified 802.11 b/g wireless solution designed around the standard XBee footprint. It allows users to drop Wi-Fi connectivity into existing socketed serial projects without redesigning hardware. Drop-in XBee compatibility

Built to fit standard 802.15.4 XBee sockets, this module enables an immediate transition to standard Wi-Fi networks. In basic applications, creating a wireless data connection requires only four connections: power, ground, transmit, and receive.

Complete onboard networking

Based on the RN-171 module, it features an integrated 32-bit processor, crypto accelerator, and a complete TCP/IP stack. Pre-loaded Roving firmware supports DHCP, UDP, DNS, ARP, ICMP, HTTP client, and FTP client across ad-hoc and infrastructure networks.

Low-power performance

The module operates from a regulated 3.3V DC power supply and features ultra-low power consumption, drawing 4uA in sleep mode and 38mA when active. An integrated real-time clock enables timestamping, auto-sleep, and auto-wakeup functions.

Hardware interfaces and I/O

It communicates over TTL UART with host data rates up to 464Kbps and offers firmware-configurable transmit power from 0dBm to 12dBm. In addition to serial communication, the board exposes eight digital I/O pins and three analog sensor inputs.
