The Waveshare Active Digital Isolated RS232 to RS485/RS422 Converter provides reliable, high-speed serial communication with built-in galvanic isolation and surge protection. Powered by SP3232EEN and SP485EEN transceivers, it converts DB9 RS232 signals to industrial RS485 or RS422 screw terminal lines with hardware automatic direction control. Galvanic isolation and circuit protection

Featuring onboard unibody power and digital isolation, this converter delivers high reliability and low power consumption without requiring a separate power supply for the isolated terminal. Integrated TVS diodes, 15KV ESD protection, 600W lightningproof anti-surge protection, and self-recovery fuses safeguard connected equipment against transient voltage spikes and over-current conditions.

Reliable high-speed serial conversion

The converter operates across baud rates from 300 bps to 921600 bps, with rates up to 115200 bps recommended for long-distance applications. It includes hardware automatic direction control on the RS485/RS422 lines and a built-in 120-ohm terminal resistor that can be enabled or disabled via a jumper.
