Description

The XBee S2C ZigBee module with integrated wire antenna provides reliable wireless data communication for microcontrollers, computers, and embedded systems. Operating on the 2.4 GHz band, it is an ideal choice for makers, students, and engineers creating robust mesh networks, remote sensing nodes, and home automation systems.

Versatile mesh networking capabilities

Running on the XBee ZB ZigBee firmware, this module supports point-to-point, multipoint, and complex mesh topologies. It enables seamless serial communication between microcontrollers and systems, and includes support for binding and multicasting in home automation setups.

Extended indoor and outdoor range

With a 3.1mW transmit power, -100dBm receiver sensitivity, and a 110 dB link budget, the module achieves an indoor range of up to 60 metres and an outdoor line-of-sight range of up to 1200 metres. It delivers an RF data rate of 250 Kbps using Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum immunity.

Standard pinout and shield compatibility

The module features the standard XBee form factor and uniform pin layout. This allows direct integration with popular development boards and carrier boards, including the DFRobot Gravity IO Expansion Shield.

Ultra-low power sleep modes

Featuring a sub-1uA sleep current, the S2C is engineered for high energy efficiency. This makes it well suited for long-term battery-operated remote sensor networks.

On-board digital and analogue interfacing

The module provides 15 general-purpose digital I/O lines and four 10-bit ADC inputs for direct sensor attachment. Data can be transferred via UART or SPI serial interfaces at speeds up to 1 Mbps.

Flexible configuration and firmware updates

Module settings can be managed locally or over the air using AT commands or API mode. Firmware upgrades are easily deployed via UART, SPI, or wirelessly over the air.
