Description
The Waveshare SX1262 LoRa HAT is a long-range wireless communication expansion board designed for Raspberry Pi, operating on the 868MHz band with transmission ranges up to 5km. It incorporates new-generation LoRa spread spectrum modulation, Wake-on-Radio support, and onboard CP2102 USB-to-UART conversion. It is ideal for makers, students, and developers building long-range IoT networks, smart agriculture setups, and remote telemetry systems.
Long-range wireless communication
Utilising the SX1262 LoRa spread spectrum modulation chip, this HAT enables robust data transmission up to 5km through a serial connection. It supports auto-repeating for extended distances, alongside features like carrier sensing, wireless configuration, and communication keys for secure and reliable data links.
Flexible control and hardware interfacing
The board features a standard Raspberry Pi GPIO connector, an onboard CP2102 USB-to-UART converter, 74HC125VM level translator, and a dedicated UART header for host microcontrollers such as Arduino or STM32. Dedicated jumpers allow seamless switching between operating modes including transmission, configuration, Wake-on-Radio, and deep sleep.
Low-power performance and applications
With a deep sleep current of just 2uA and selectable transmit power up to 22.0dBm, the module balances high sensitivity and energy efficiency. It is well-suited for industrial automation, remote sensor data collection, smart home monitoring, and outdoor IoT applications.
