Description
The Expandable Off-Road Tracked UGV Mobile Robot Chassis is a highly durable, open-source robotic platform designed for advanced makers, educators, and developers. Built with an all-metal body and an independent suspension system, it provides a stable foundation for complex terrain navigation. It is fully compatible with host computers like the Raspberry Pi or Jetson Nano, making it an excellent choice for computer vision and AI projects.
Independent suspension system
The chassis features a 4x2 independent suspension system made from 1.5mm stainless steel, paired with a 2mm 5052 aluminium alloy body. This design reduces the physical impact of rough terrains, allowing the vehicle to cross 40mm vertical obstacles and climb slopes up to 36 degrees.

Dual-controller communication
This platform supports host computers such as the Raspberry Pi 4B, Raspberry Pi Zero, or Jetson Nano, which connect to an ESP32 slave computer via a serial port. This architecture allows the host computer to focus on high-level AI tasks while the ESP32 handles real-time hardware control.

Integrated UPS power supply
An onboard 3S UPS power supply module supports three 18650 lithium batteries (not included) to provide uninterruptible power. The module supports simultaneous charging and power output, delivering up to one hour of continuous operation under full power.

Closed-loop speed control
Powered by dual 5.2W motors, the chassis achieves running speeds from 0.25 to 1 metre per second. Integrated 11PPR basic pulse encoders provide real-time speed feedback, enabling precise closed-loop speed control and smooth movement.

Multifunctional ESP32 driver board
The built-in ESP32-based driver board features onboard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless remote control via AP or STA modes. It also includes dedicated interfaces for driving serial bus servos, outputting PWM signals, and expanding storage with a TF card slot.

Aluminium profile rails for expansion
Equipped with two 1020 European standard profile rails spaced 170mm apart, the chassis offers versatile mounting options for secondary development. This allows users to securely attach cameras, sensors, or robotic arms, supporting a driving payload of up to 6.2kg.
