Description
The Waveshare Industrial Isolated RS232 to RS485/RS422 Converter is an active digital isolated serial adapter engineered for reliable, interference-free serial communication. Featuring onboard digital and power isolation alongside comprehensive surge and ESD protection, it provides stable bridging between RS232 devices and RS485/RS422 networks. It is ideal for makers, students, and engineers developing industrial automation, robotics, and robust serial telemetry projects.
Comprehensive circuit protection and isolation
The converter integrates unibody digital and power isolation to suppress ground loops and electrical interference without requiring an auxiliary isolated power source. Enhanced hardware protections include 15kV ESD isolation, 600W lightning and surge protection, onboard TVS diodes, and self-recovery fuses for sustained over-current and over-voltage safety.
High-speed transmission and automatic control
Driven by genuine SP3232EEN and SP485EEN transceiver chips, the device delivers communication speeds from 300 to 921600 bps with zero-delay automatic hardware direction control. A built-in 120-ohm terminal resistor is also included for easy impedance matching across RS485 and RS422 bus runs.
DIN rail mounting and wide voltage input
Designed for clean and organised installations, the compact ABS enclosure clips directly onto standard 35mm DIN rails. Three onboard LEDs display power and transceiver status at a glance, while a wide 5V to 36V DC input range with anti-reverse protection accommodates various power supplies.
