Description
The USB/TTL Raspberry Pi GPS Tracker is a compact positioning module powered by the Quectel L80-39 chipset and an onboard CP2102 USB-to-UART converter. It is designed for students, makers, and developers adding real-time location tracking and precision timing to Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or STM32 projects.
Dual USB and TTL connectivity
The board features both a Micro USB port with an integrated CP2102 serial converter and an 8-pin 2.54 mm pitch header. This dual interface allows direct plug-and-play connection to Raspberry Pi boards as well as standard TTL serial communication with microcontrollers.
High-sensitivity L80-39 GPS engine
Utilising 66 search channels and 22 simultaneous tracking channels, the module achieves -165 dBm tracking sensitivity with a built-in low-noise amplifier. Integrated EASY AGPS technology accelerates cold-start satellite acquisition without needing external memory.
Flexible antenna configurations
The module includes a built-in 15 x 15 x 4 mm patch antenna suited for outdoor operations. An integrated standard SMA connector allows connection of an external active antenna for indoor deployments or enclosed chassis designs.
NMEA data and PPS timekeeping
Location data is output using standard NMEA0183 protocol at a default 9600 bps baud rate with update rates from 1 Hz up to 5 Hz. A dedicated PPS output line enables microsecond-level time synchronisation with GPS satellites for precise time-service applications.
Operating parameters and status LED
Operating at 3.3V to 5.0V DC with a maximum current draw of 100 mA, the board features a fix status LED that blinks once coordinates are locked. It is RTC battery-compatible and operates across an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
Included connection hardware
The package includes the GPS tracker module, a Micro USB cable, and ten female-to-female DuPont jumper wires for immediate wiring to GPIO headers.
