Description
The Realtek Ameba-RTL8195AM WiFi & NFC Module combines a 166MHz 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller with 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, NFC read/write functionality, and Ethernet connectivity. Designed for makers, students, and engineers developing IoT gateways, access systems, and networked sensors, it delivers extensive wireless and wired communication options on a compact footprint. Support for both Arduino and MicroPython environments allows rapid prototyping of connected embedded devices.
Integrated processing and dual wireless capability
Driven by a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 running at 166MHz, the module integrates 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi with short-range NFC read/write capabilities on a 19 x 24mm board. It supports station, softAP, and softAP+station network modes with wireless data transfer rates up to 150Mbps over 802.11n.
High-speed peripheral and network interfaces
The hardware provides versatile high-speed connectivity including USB 2.0 OTG host and device support, SDIO/SD card control, and 10/100 Ethernet via MII, RMII, or RGMII. Up to 30 configurable GPIO pins offer ample expansion for smart appliances and edge networking prototypes.
Rich analogue and digital I/O
To support sensor integration and peripheral control, the module includes 2 SPI channels, 3 UARTs (2 high-speed and 1 log UART), 2 I2C interfaces, 2 I2S/PCM buses, 4 PWM channels, 2 ADCs, and 1 DAC.
Hardware security and onboard memory
The RTL8195AM platform features an integrated hardware SSL engine for secure network communication alongside ultra-low power operating modes. Memory resources comprise 1MB ROM, 2MB SDRAM, and 512KB SRAM operating across a 3.0V to 3.3V supply range.
Arduino and MicroPython toolchain support
Compatibility with Arduino and MicroPython simplifies firmware creation for connected sensor arrays, NFC identification modules, and industrial prototypes. The module is aimed at developers, with detailed implementation resources available for testing advanced features.
