The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 IoT Router Carrier Board Mini is a compact networking expansion base equipped with a dedicated aluminium cooling case and heatsink. It provides dual gigabit Ethernet ports via PCIe, making it an ideal choice for makers, students, and network hobbyists building custom routers, smart home gateways, and mini-NAS units.

Dual gigabit Ethernet networking

The board equips a Raspberry Pi CM4 with two full-speed gigabit network ports by routing the second interface over PCIe. This architecture delivers lower CPU overhead, higher data throughput, and greater operational stability than USB-to-Ethernet adapters.

Broad software and router support

Ready for OpenWRT, the system configures quickly into an open-source router or firewall. It also supports Raspberry Pi OS and Ubuntu Server, leveraging the quad-core BCM2711 processor to power wireless bridges, LTE terminals, and home IoT hubs.

Peripheral and GPIO expansion

A USB 2.0 Type-C interface connects external hard drives, printers, or wireless modules, while a 26-pin GPIO header accommodates sensors, actuators, and smart cooling fans. A built-in microSD card slot provides storage expansion for CM4 Lite modules without eMMC.

Compact enclosure and thermal design

Measuring only 55 x 62 mm, the board fits inside an included 59 x 69 x 29 mm aluminium shell with integrated heatsink. This rugged metal enclosure ensures passive heat dissipation across an operating temperature range of 0°C to 80°C.

Power input and handling guidelines

The unit is powered through a dedicated 5V/3A USB-C power-only port. Because high-density CM4 board-to-board connectors are delicate, take care to verify orientation before pressing down and avoid frequent insertion and removal.
