Description
The Raspberry Pi CM4 IoT Router Carrier Board Mini Kit transforms a Compute Module 4 into a compact, dual-port Gigabit network appliance. It is ideal for makers, networking enthusiasts, and developers building custom soft routers, smart home gateways, or mini-NAS devices.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet via PCIe
The board pairs the CM4 built-in network interface with an additional PCIe-connected 1000BASE-T Gigabit NIC. This hardware architecture delivers dual full-speed Gigabit ports with minimal CPU usage and high long-term stability compared to USB-based network cards.

Compact form factor and dimensions
Measuring only 55 x 62 mm, this compact carrier board fits into tight enclosures while retaining a standard 26-pin Raspberry Pi GPIO header. This layout enables quick wiring for external sensors, actuators, or a smart cooling fan.

OpenWRT and Linux operating support
The platform supports OpenWRT for fast deployment as a standalone network router or firewall. It is equally compatible with standard Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu Server, and other Linux distributions running on the quad-core BCM2711 processor.
USB interface and microSD expansion
An onboard USB 2.0 Type-C data port allows connection to portable hard drives, printers, LTE modems, or Wi-Fi adapters. A dedicated microSD card slot provides operating system storage when used with CM4 Lite modules lacking onboard eMMC.
Protective metal case and power
The kit includes a custom metal enclosure equipped with a heatsink to maintain optimal operating temperatures between 0 and 80 degrees Celsius. A 5V 3A US-standard USB power adapter and USB 3.0 to Type-C cable are also included.
CM4 connector handling guidelines
The board-to-board high-density socket on the carrier is delicate and requires careful alignment before pressing the CM4 into position. Always verify the correct module orientation prior to powering the board and avoid frequent insertion cycles.
