Description
The Industrial Grade RS485 Repeater is an optically isolated bidirectional signal amplifier designed to extend RS485 communication lines up to 1200 metres while suppressing electrical interference. It is an ideal solution for students, makers, and engineers deploying robust MODBUS networks, long-range sensor telemetry, or factory automation systems.
Long-range transparent signal amplification
The repeater extends EIA/TIA RS485 bus distances by up to 1200 metres at 9600 bps with automatic data direction sensing and transparent transmission. It operates asynchronously in half-duplex mode across twisted pair or shielded cabling without requiring software configuration.

Point-to-multipoint bus deployment
In single repeater setups, the unit extends a point-to-point line to 1200 metres or drives up to 32 nodes in a hand-in-hand bus arrangement. Branch lines between adjacent nodes must not exceed 10 metres to maintain reliable signal integrity.

Parallel multi-repeater expansion
Up to 16 repeaters can be connected in parallel to a single RS485 master input. This configuration allows you to broadcast to up to 128 connected devices across multiple branch segments simultaneously.

Multi-stage cascade topology
Repeaters can be cascaded in a tree topology to extend the overall RS485 transmission distance across multiple segments. The network architecture supports a total of up to 128 enhanced RS485 devices across the bus installation.

Comprehensive 1500V electrical isolation
An onboard isolated DC-DC power module delivers 1500V isolation alongside optocouplers that decouple master and slave lines against ground loops and common-mode voltage differences. Integrated TVS transient suppression, self-recovery fuses, and reverse power protection shield connected hardware against electrical faults.
Dual power inputs and diagnostic LEDs
Power the module using a DC 9V to 24V terminal block or the built-in 5.5/2.1mm DC-005 socket. Dedicated PWR, TXD, and RXD status indicators provide real-time visual feedback by remaining solid during idle states and flashing during data transfers.
DIN rail mounting and broad protocol support
Housed in a compact enclosure designed for standard 35mm DIN rails, the unit operates across a wide temperature range of -20°C to +70°C. It self-adapts to baud rates from 0 to 115200 bps for seamless compatibility with PLCs, MODBUS equipment, access control systems, and industrial sensors.
