Description
The Gravity Science Data Acquisition (SCI DAQ) Module is an integrated data logging and display unit designed for STEM education, scientific experimentation, and IoT prototyping. It automatically recognises connected sensors, converts raw electrical signals into standardised physical measurements, and logs timestamped data to onboard flash storage. It works seamlessly as a standalone field logger or alongside micro:bit, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and UNIHIKER boards.
Automatic sensor recognition and display
The module features an integrated 1.3-inch OLED display that presents live sensor readings instantly. It automatically detects connected I2C sensors on boot, eliminating manual configuration and lowering the barrier for exploratory science experiments.

Onboard hardware sensor calibration
Calibrate analogue sensors directly on the board without modifying code. This built-in calibration workflow supports probes such as pH and TDS meters, ensuring high accuracy and consistent data reliability across experiments.

High-capacity logging with real-time clock
Equipped with 16MB of onboard flash storage and a dedicated battery-backed real-time clock, the module records over 400,000 timestamped readings. Logged data can be exported directly to a computer via the Type-C port in CSV format for analysis in spreadsheet applications.

Unified data conversion and output
Raw sensor outputs are converted automatically into uniform physical quantity strings complete with names, values, and units. This standardisation simplifies coding on host microcontrollers by removing the need to import individual sensor driver libraries.

Versatile power and interface options
The unit operates on 3.3V to 5.5V DC and accepts power via USB Type-C, a PH2.0 battery terminal, or directly through the I2C interface. Input connectivity includes one digital/analogue port alongside two I2C/UART ports for broad hardware integration.

Standalone and microcontroller operation
Deploy the unit independently with a battery for portable outdoor data collection, or connect it to an Arduino, micro:bit, or Raspberry Pi over I2C. Host boards use consistent commands to retrieve processed physical values from any attached sensor.
