ESP8266 WiFi Bee for Arduino UNO / Leonardo

The ESP8266 WiFi Bee is a compact serial-to-WiFi module designed in a standard XBee form factor for Arduino UNO and Leonardo controllers. It provides an affordable, space-saving wireless solution for students, makers, and hobbyists building IoT and remote control projects.

Standard XBee socket compatibility

Adopting the physical XBee form factor, this module plugs directly into XBee-compatible sockets on expansion boards without requiring messy point-to-point wiring. An onboard physical switch lets you quickly toggle between normal module operation and firmware update mode.

Integrated 32-bit processing power

The module features an embedded low-power 32-bit processor capable of handling on-chip processing and storage tasks. It incorporates an integrated Lwip TCP/IP protocol stack to maintain a stable, reliable network connection.

Versatile wireless operating modes

Operating on the 2.4 GHz frequency with IEEE 802.11b/g/n support, the module provides AP, STA, and concurrent AP+STA modes alongside Wi-Fi Direct (P2P). Network security is maintained through built-in support for WPA and WPA2/WPA2-PSK encryption standards.

Serial communication and programming

Operating at 3.3V, the unit uses a standard UART TTL serial interface easily configured with AT commands. It is fully supported by an Arduino ESP8266 software library and includes example code for rapid project development.

Setup and board compatibility

Initial configuration requires an XBee USB adapter or shield to establish communication prior to standalone deployment. It is directly compatible with Romeo V2, XBoard V2, and Gravity IO expansion and motor driver shields.
