The WHEELTEC MG513X and MG513XL DC Gear Motors are high-quality 12V geared motors designed specifically for smart cars, self-control systems, and ROS educational robots. Featuring options for either standard Hall encoders or high-precision GMR encoders, these motors are perfect for students, educators, and makers building advanced mobile robotics platforms.
Standard Hall encoder option
The MG513X motor is available with a standard Hall encoder for reliable magnetic feedback. This version can be paired with a dedicated 65mm four-wheel drive tyre for mobile robot chassis designs.

High precision GMR encoder option
The MG513XL variant features a GMR encoder for applications requiring superior feedback resolution. It can be fitted with a 65mm rubber wheel to provide excellent traction and smooth movement.

Designed for ROS robotics
Engineered for the smart car and educational robotics market, these motors meet the demanding requirements of commercial equipment and autonomous navigation. The patented GMR encoder combines the high precision of photoelectric encoders with the magnetic stability of Hall encoders, making it ideal for high-precision ROS navigation.

Comprehensive performance specifications
Operating at a rated voltage of 12V with a 1:28 reduction ratio, both models deliver a rated speed of 300 rpm and a no-load speed of 370 rpm. The MG513X offers 4W power and 1kgf.cm rated torque, while the higher-power 10W MG513XL delivers 3kgf.cm rated torque.

Advanced encoder technology comparison
The GMR encoder provides 500ppr resolution using the giant magnetoresistive effect, making it 38 times more precise than the 13ppr Hall encoder at low speeds. While the Hall encoder is compatible with almost all microcontrollers, the high-precision GMR version is designed for hardware-encoder-enabled microcontrollers like the STM32.
