The Waveshare GSM/GPRS/GNSS/Bluetooth HAT is a versatile multi-communication add-on board designed for Raspberry Pi computers. It equips your projects with cellular connectivity, SMS messaging, GPRS data transfer, multi-constellation satellite positioning, and Bluetooth communication. This all-in-one expansion board is ideal for makers, students, and educators building connected IoT, asset tracking, and remote telemetry solutions.

Comprehensive wireless communication

The module features quad-band GSM/GPRS support across 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz for voice calls, SMS, MMS, email, and mobile data up to 85.6kbps. It also provides Bluetooth 3.0 plus EDR connectivity supporting SPP, OPP, and audio profiles for local wireless data transfer.

High-accuracy GNSS positioning

With support for GPS, COMPASS, Glonass, and LBS base station positioning, the onboard receiver features 33 tracking channels and 99 acquisition channels. It achieves a fast time-to-first-fix and horizontal positioning accuracy within 2.5 metres.

Onboard interfaces and hardware

The HAT includes a standard 40-pin Raspberry Pi GPIO header, an onboard CP2102 USB-to-UART converter for debugging, six status LEDs, an RTC with backup battery holder, and a 1.8V/3V SIM card slot. It operates on 5V power and supports automatic baud rate detection from 1200bps to 115200bps.

Command control and compatibility

Configuration and control are handled via standard 3GPP and SIMCOM-enhanced AT commands. Development resources and software examples are provided for Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and STM32 platforms.
