SparkFun MMA7361L 3-Axis Analog Accelerometer Sensor

The SparkFun MMA7361L is a low-power, three-axis analog accelerometer designed to measure tilt, motion, and freefall. It outputs independent analog voltages for each axis and offers selectable measurement ranges, making it an excellent choice for robotics projects, student experiments, and maker builds.

Selectable sensitivity and range

The sensor features a g-Select input pin that allows you to switch between two measurement ranges: ±1.5g with high sensitivity (800 mV/g) and ±6g. Factory-set zero-g offset and sensitivity eliminate the need for external calibration hardware.

Low-power operation

Operating between 2.2 V and 3.6 V (optimal at 3.3 V), the device draws just 400 µA during active use. It also includes a low-power sleep mode drawing only 3 µA, with a rapid 0.5 ms enable response time.

Integrated signal processing and freefall detection

Built-in features include signal conditioning with a 1-pole low-pass filter, temperature compensation, and a self-test function. It also includes 0g-detect output to reliably sense linear freefall events.

Analog outputs and form factor

All three axes (X, Y, and Z) provide dedicated analog output signals for straightforward interfacing with microcontroller analog inputs. The IC is packaged in a compact 3.0 x 5.0 x 1.0 mm 14-pin LGA housing.
