Description

The Hiwonder Nexbit standard kit is an AI-powered smart robot car designed for micro:bit programming and hands-on STEM education. Equipped with a WonderCam AI vision module, it is ideal for South African students, educators, and hobbyists looking to explore autonomous driving, machine learning, and robotics. This compact vehicle combines advanced line-following, obstacle avoidance, and visual recognition in an accessible, expandable platform.

WonderCam AI vision module

The integrated WonderCam AI vision module features an HD camera and a 2.0-inch LCD screen to enable real-time colour recognition, target tracking, and visual line following. A flexible hinge bracket allows users to easily adjust the camera's angle to expand its exploration range.

Four-channel line follower

The gold-plated Nexbit PCB includes a high-accuracy 4-channel line follower with an adjustable sensitivity knob. This allows the robot to perform effortless line-following tasks, intersection detection, and complex path navigation.

Intelligent recognition and sorting

Using built-in learning algorithms, the Nexbit can recognise faces, numbers, and colours, framing identified items directly on its display. It can also perform waste sorting tasks by identifying distinct waste cards and displaying corresponding patterns on the micro:bit LED matrix.

Autonomous driving simulation

Through the WonderCam module, the robot can recognise traffic lights and road signs to determine its manoeuvres. This enables autonomous driving simulations, including executing straight lines, turns, and U-turns based on real-time visual data analysis.

Glowy ultrasonic sensor

The onboard glowy ultrasonic sensor measures distances to assist with obstacle detection and avoidance. It can be programmed to emit various colours of light to provide real-time visual feedback during navigation.

Robust motor and rechargeable battery

Nexbit is powered by a rechargeable 1800mAh 18650 LiPo battery with built-in overcurrent and low-voltage protection, chargeable via a convenient USB port. A mini high-torque geared motor provides a durable and robust drive for smooth movement.

Versatile programming and control

The robot supports Makecode block-based programming, making it easy for beginners to learn coding. Users can control the vehicle using the Android or iOS mobile app, or via the optional Handlebit remote control.

Ample expansion ports

The base board is equipped with multiple IIC, GPIO, and 4-pin ports, facilitating seamless expansion with extra sensors, grippers, or specialised traffic kits. This allows students and makers to scale their projects from basic robotics to intelligent transportation systems.

Compact and durable chassis

Weighing approximately 245g and measuring 99 by 105 by 150mm, the Nexbit features a durable metal bracket and a gold-plated PCB. Its compact body houses an infrared receiver, RGB lights, a buzzer, and multiple servo ports.
