Description
The Hiwonder IoT Smart Home Kit is an educational micro:bit-powered kit designed to teach the fundamentals of smart home automation and wireless communication. It is ideal for South African students, educators, and hobbyists looking to build practical, hands-on coding and robotics skills. The kit features a variety of sensors and electronic modules to simulate real-world Internet of Things applications.
Microbit powered home automation
The kit is powered by a micro:bit control board and integrates multiple sensors to teach automation, wireless control, and intelligent house management. It includes light, soil, temperature, humidity, and ultrasonic sensors to build practical Internet of Things projects.

Automated climate control
The system monitors environmental conditions and automatically activates the cooling fan when the temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius and the humidity surpasses 80 percent. This provides a hands-on demonstration of automated climate management.

Interactive door control
Users can programme and control the entry door to open and close using buttons A and B on the micro:bit controller. This demonstrates basic servo motor control and user input integration.

Intelligent security alarms
The system triggers a beeping alarm when the light sensor detects dim lighting combined with either an ultrasonic obstacle detection or a sound level exceeding 100. This simulates a real-world home security system.

Smart clothes drying system
Utilising a raindrop sensor, light sensor, and an LFD-01 anti-blocking servo, the drying rack automatically retracts indoors when rain is detected or the sky darkens. On bright, dry days, the rack extends outdoors to dry clothes.
Hardware and power specifications
The kit operates on a 7.4V to 8.5V working voltage powered by two 3.7V 18650 batteries, with a maximum power consumption of 42.5W. It communicates via 2.4G WiFi using TCP protocol and can be controlled through a dedicated iOS or Android mobile application.

Comprehensive learning package
The package includes an array of components such as light, raindrop, and ultrasonic sensors, alongside a WiFi module and an LFD-01 anti-blocking servo. Detailed tutorials are provided to guide users from basic sensor principles to advanced wireless communication.
