DRS - 0101 HerkuleX Smart Servo

The DRS-0101 HerkuleX Smart Servo is an all-in-one modular robotic actuator integrating a core DC motor, gear reducer, control circuitry, and serial communications into a compact 45g package. Providing up to 12kg.cm of torque at 7.4V with comprehensive real-time telemetry, it is well suited for students, hobbyists, and makers building multi-joint robotic arms and walking platforms.

Compact modular drive mechanics

Combining a carbon brush cored DC motor with a 1:266 super engineering plastic gearbox, this servo outputs 12kg.cm stall torque at 7.4V. It delivers a maximum operating speed of 0.166s per 60 degrees across a 320-degree rotation range with 0.325-degree resolution.

Advanced onboard control algorithms

The integrated controller runs PID regulation, feedforward algorithms, and trapezoidal velocity profiling for smooth and precise joint movement. Additional firmware capabilities include overload protection, neutral calibration, dead zone adjustment, torque saturation, and velocity override.

Multi-drop serial network architecture

Full-duplex asynchronous TTL serial communication operates at baud rates up to 0.67Mbps using binary packets. Dedicated servo IDs allow daisy-chaining and synchronous command of up to 254 servos across serial or parallel connections via dual onboard ports.

Real-time telemetry and diagnostic LED

The servo streams real-time operational feedback including position, speed, internal temperature, voltage, and load. An onboard programmable RGB LED diagnoses seven distinct system errors and can be controlled directly for status indication.

Standard wiring and mounting accessories

Electrical connections use a four-wire pinout for ground, 7.4V DC supply, TXD, and RXD. Each unit includes a 200mm wire harness along with a complete mechanical mounting kit containing horns, bushings, washers, cable guards, joints, and fastening bolts.
