Description
The WAVEGO 12-DOF Bionic Dog-Like Robot is an agile quadruped development platform designed for students, educators, and advanced makers. Powered by an ESP32 sub-controller for real-time gait generation, it can be expanded with a Raspberry Pi to run advanced computer vision models. It is the ideal hardware for exploring inverse kinematics, autonomous navigation, and machine learning.
Twelve degrees of freedom
The robot features a 12-DOF design with a multi-connecting rod leg structure that maximises effective servo torque. It uses an inverse kinematics algorithm to perform complex movements such as jumping, crawling, and self-balancing.

Durable lightweight chassis
Constructed from 5052 aluminium alloy and PA12 nylon, the chassis incorporates 40 sets of bearing joints across its body. This compact design ensures excellent structural strength while remaining light enough for safe desktop operation.

Active self-balancing posture
An onboard ICM20948 high-precision 9-axis motion tracker enables the robot to adapt dynamically to uneven terrains. This real-time posture compensation keeps the camera payload stable during locomotion.

Computer vision capabilities
With the 5MP 160-degree wide-angle camera, the platform supports OpenCV-powered algorithms. Users can deploy real-time facial recognition, colour tracking, and moving object detection.

Web-based browser control
The robot automatically hosts its own Wi-Fi hotspot on startup, enabling instant connection from any smartphone, tablet, or PC browser. There is no need to install dedicated apps or configure complex compiling environments to start operating.

Dual-processor processing split
An ESP32 sub-controller running FreeRTOS handles low-level inverse solving and gait generation tasks. This offloads intensive calculations from the primary Raspberry Pi host, preserving its processing power for high-level AI applications.

Integrated power management board
The highly integrated baseboard features onboard battery protection circuits against over-charging, over-discharging, and over-current. It provides stable power distribution for the high-torque servos and host controllers.
