Description
This 2208 three-phase brushless DC motor integrates a high-precision AS5600 magnetic encoder to deliver smooth, quiet closed-loop motion control. Running at a rated 12V and producing 300g.cm of torque, it is an ideal solution for makers, students, and engineers developing camera gimbals, robotic joints, and balancing platforms.
Integrated AS5600 magnetic encoder
The on-board AS5600 magnetic encoder provides 12-bit positional feedback with an accuracy of up to 0.087 degrees. It operates at 3.3V and supports I2C, PWM, and analogue outputs via a GH1.25 4-pin interface for versatile closed-loop integration.
Optimised for Field-Oriented Control
Designed for Field-Oriented Control (FOC), the motor delivers ripple-free torque and minimal operational vibration. It pairs directly with the open-source SimpleFOC library on Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi platforms when used with compatible drivers such as the SimpleFOC Mini.
Precision CNC hollow-shaft construction
The motor features a CNC-machined housing, strong NdFeB magnetic outer rotor, and a compact 27.5x28mm hollow-shaft format. Dynamic rotor balancing and oxygen-free copper stator windings ensure quiet, reliable operation across a 0°C to 60°C temperature range.
Electrical performance and ratings
Operating across a DC 7.4V to 16V range, this 110KV motor delivers 1800 RPM at 12V with a rated current of 0.8A and maximum current of 4.5A. The 12N14P configuration utilizes star-connected symmetrical windings with 21.2 ohm phase resistance and 5.3mH inductance.
Versatile robotic applications
The compact form factor and high-resolution feedback suit multi-axis camera gimbals, robotic arm joints, and self-balancing platforms. It is also well suited as an educational testbed for studying and implementing custom brushless control algorithms.
Included cables and wiring
The kit includes the 2208 brushless motor with encoder, a 3-pin motor cable, and an MX1.25-4P to DuPont adapter cable. The UVW phase wires use a symmetrical star configuration, allowing flexible connection to your motor driver without a strict phase order.
