Description
The Waveshare R7FA4 Plus B is a versatile microcontroller development board featuring a Renesas RA4M1 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4 processor paired with an ESP32-S3FN8 coprocessor. It provides built-in 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE connectivity in an Arduino UNO R4 WiFi compatible form factor. This board is an ideal upgrade for makers, students and hobbyists building connected IoT systems and interactive electronics projects.
Dual-core processing and wireless connectivity
The board pairs a 48MHz Renesas RA4M1 (R7FA4M1AB3CFM) microcontroller with a 240MHz ESP32-S3FN8 module. This provides 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE dual-mode communication, making it simple to connect projects to the Arduino IoT Cloud for remote monitoring and control.
Integrated display and peripheral interfaces
An onboard 12x8 red LED matrix allows for direct animation and sensor data plotting without requiring external displays. It also incorporates Qwiic connectors, CAN bus, a 12-bit DAC, operational amplifiers, and VRTC and OFF pins for expanded functionality.
Shield-friendly hardware design
Designed with a low-profile DC power jack and a lateral reset button, the board prevents physical interference when stacking shields. It features switchable 5V and 3.3V power headers, delivering up to 2000mA max on the 5V rail for higher driving capability.
Status indicators and expansion support
Onboard LEDs provide real-time status monitoring for power, user code, and serial RX and TX lines. Dedicated solder pads are also provided to allow DIY interface soldering for experimental board connections.
