Description
The Waveshare ESP32-S3 1.64-inch AMOLED Touch Display Development Board combines a dual-core ESP32-S3R8 microcontroller with a vivid 280 × 456 capacitive touchscreen and a built-in 6-axis IMU. Featuring 16MB Flash, 8MB PSRAM, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5, it is well suited for smoothly running modern GUI frameworks like LVGL. This compact board is ideal for makers, students, and engineers developing wearable devices, smart sensors, and interactive human-machine interfaces.
Vivid AMOLED touchscreen
The board features a 1.64-inch AMOLED screen delivering a 280 × 456 resolution, 16.7 million colours, and capacitive touch input managed via an FT3168 IC. Its high 60000:1 contrast ratio and 350 cd/m² brightness ensure sharp graphics for embedded user interface designs.
Dual-core processing and wireless
Powered by an Xtensa 32-bit LX7 dual-core processor running at up to 240MHz, the board integrates 512KB SRAM, 384KB ROM, 16MB Flash, and 8MB PSRAM. Built-in 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 LE provide wireless connectivity with an onboard antenna and support for an external antenna via resistor modification.
Integrated motion sensing and storage
An onboard QMI8658 6-axis IMU provides 3-axis acceleration and gyroscopic tracking for gesture detection and motion applications. An integrated TF card slot facilitates external storage expansion for images, data logging, and firmware assets.
Power and expansion options
Housed in a durable CNC-machined metal frame, the board includes a USB Type-C port for power and programming alongside a 3.7V MX1.25 lithium battery header. Accessible I2C, UART, USB, and MUX_GPIO interfaces allow for versatile peripheral expansion.
