Description
The Velleman MK127 Running Microbug is an attractive, bright-coloured miniature robot kit that automatically steers towards light sources. Driven by dual subminiature motors, it responds dynamically to lighting conditions and comes to a complete halt in total darkness. It makes a fantastic hands-on project for students, young makers, and hobbyists exploring robotics fundamentals.
Light-seeking locomotion
The microbug is designed to constantly seek light and move towards it. Adjustable light sensitivity covers a wide luminous intensity range, allowing users to fine-tune its bug-like behaviour.
Drive system and visual indicators
Movement is powered by two open-chassis subminiature motors. Integrated LED eyes illuminate to indicate the microbug's active driving direction.
Compact design and power requirements
With a footprint measuring 100 x 60 mm, the robot operates on two 1.5V AAA batteries, which are available separately.
