Description
The UPS HAT for Raspberry Pi 4B/3B+/3B provides reliable backup power to prevent file system corruption and facilitate safe system shutdowns during power outages. It is ideal for makers and engineers creating portable Raspberry Pi systems, mobile cameras, and field data collection devices. Delivering a steady 5V output at up to 2A, it keeps your Pi running smoothly through power interruptions.
Uninterruptible power with automatic switching
The HAT automatically switches between external supply and battery power during outages to keep the Raspberry Pi operational. It supplies a regulated 5V output with a maximum current of 2A to comfortably run attached peripherals.
Maxim fuel gauge and I2C telemetry
An on-board MAX17043 fuel gauge IC and dedicated MCU enable the Raspberry Pi to monitor battery capacity and voltage via I2C. Five on-board status LEDs provide instant visual feedback on remaining charge without requiring any software setup.
High efficiency and low heat generation
A non-dioded circuit design achieves over 90 percent power conversion efficiency, keeping thermal output low even during heavy processing loads. The unit accepts a 4.5V to 5.5V input through its Micro-USB port and supports charge currents up to 1.6A.
Integrated circuit and battery protection
Built-in protection mechanisms guard against lithium battery overcharge, over-discharge, and overheating. The board also features anti-backflow protection for the mainboard and retains a standard Raspberry Pi header for stacking other expansion shields.
Battery connection and system compatibility
Power is drawn from a 3.7V lithium battery via the PH2.0-2P connector or dedicated solder contacts, though the battery is not included. This shield is compatible with Raspberry Pi 4B, 3B+, and 3B models, but is not compatible with Raspberry Pi 5.
