Description
The UPS Expansion HAT is a dedicated uninterrupted power supply board engineered specifically for the LattePanda Sigma x86 single board computer. Powered by four 18650 lithium-ion cells, it delivers up to 8 hours of continuous runtime during power outages. It is an essential addition for makers, engineers, and educators running mission-critical edge computing, IoT, or robotics setups.
Seamless automatic power switching
The board automatically transitions to battery power when external power drops, protecting your SBC from sudden system failures. Built-in HID-UPS protocol support enables Windows and Linux to recognise the module as a standard laptop battery, allowing automated operating system power saving and graceful shutdowns.
Dual high-power input interfaces
The expansion HAT provides flexible power input via a 20V 100W USB Type-C PD port or a 5.5x2.5mm DC jack accepting 19V to 24V at 90W or higher. The onboard charging circuit charges the battery cells at 2A within an operating temperature range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius.
Direct battery power efficiency
Unlike traditional boost or buck power systems, the HAT delivers direct power from four 3.7V 18650 lithium-ion batteries to the LattePanda Sigma. This architecture eliminates conversion energy loss and maximises efficiency, providing up to 8 hours of reliable operation under typical loads.

Open-source Arduino customisation
The HID-UPS protocol logic is implemented through Arduino using fully open-source firmware. Users can tailor power management algorithms, configure custom charging voltage limits, and optimize energy consumption for specific project needs.
Complete mounting and hardware kit
The expansion HAT mounts securely to the LattePanda Sigma using the supplied M3 copper pillars and screws. The kit also includes a dedicated heatsink, a power cable, and a signal ribbon cable for clean, reliable assembly.
