RS485 Connector Expansion Shield for LattePanda Alpha&Delta

The RS485 Connector Expansion Shield adds two parallel industrial-grade RS485 terminal ports to LattePanda Alpha, Delta, and 3 Delta single-board computers. Built with robust electrical isolation and surge protection, it suits makers, educators, and engineers deploying dependable serial communication in industrial automation and monitoring environments.

Isolated FTDI serial communication

Driven by an FTDI USB-to-serial chip and an isolated transceiver module, the shield supports transmission speeds up to 1M bps. It provides 3000VDC isolation voltage along with surge, lightning, and transient impulse protection to safeguard the host mainboard.

Stackable mounting with unhindered airflow

The shield fixes directly over the LattePanda using the included copper standoffs without blocking the mainboard heat dissipation area. This stackable layout ensures dependable point-to-point wiring while maintaining standard cooling performance.

Onboard power output and termination

For simplified field wiring, the board integrates a built-in 120 ohm terminal matching resistance for signal integrity. It also includes an auxiliary 12V (100mA) power output to supply external connected hardware.

Operating specs and OS compatibility

The module operates at 5V across an industrial temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius. It facilitates communication workflows on Windows and Linux systems, operating as a fixed non-hot-pluggable expansion.

Included mounting hardware

The package supplies one RS485 expansion shield, three 12mm M3 double-through hexagonal copper columns, and six M3 round head screws for immediate assembly.
