Description
The RGB LED Strip Driver Shield v2.0 is an Arduino expansion board designed to drive standard 12V common anode RGB LED strips up to 5 metres in length. It features three high-current MOSFET channels, an integrated infrared receiver, and onboard circuit protection, making it an ideal solution for makers and students building interactive lighting installations.
High-power multi-channel driving
Equipped with three discrete MOSFETs, the shield powers 12V common anode LED strips at up to 2A per channel with a recommended working power of 72W. When supplied with external 12V power, the board also delivers a regulated 5V supply to keep the connected Arduino safely powered.
Built-in infrared remote control
An onboard IR receiver connected to digital pin 4 enables wireless lighting control using standard infrared remotes. The RGB outputs connect to PWM pins 9 (Blue), 10 (Red), and 11 (Green), allowing precise colour mixing without occupying unnecessary microcontroller pins.
Upgraded terminal block connectivity
Version 2.0 replaces quick-connect DC jacks with screw terminal blocks to ensure stable external 12V power distribution and straightforward strip wiring. Long-legged headers provide durable pin contact and stack seamlessly onto standard Arduino headers.
Integrated overload fuse protection
An onboard fuse limits maximum current draw to protect both the LED strip and host microcontroller from overload damage. The version 2.0 layout features an optimised fuse design that prevents potential short circuits against the Arduino USB port.
Interactive lighting project deployment
The shield bridges standard Arduino logic with high-power strip lighting, providing an easy-to-wire platform for dynamic installations and ambient light projects.

Broad Arduino microcontroller compatibility
The driver shield is compatible with standard Arduino Uno R2/R3, Arduino Mega 1280/2560, and Romeo microcontrollers.
