Description
The Raspberry Pi Pico is a versatile, high-performance microcontroller board powered by the Raspberry Pi RP2040 dual-core ARM Cortex M0+ processor. It features drag-and-drop programming over a micro USB connection, 26 multi-function GPIO pins, and support for custom peripherals via programmable I/O state machines. This board is an excellent choice for students, educators, and hobbyists learning embedded electronics and coding.
Processing power and memory
The Pico is built around the RP2040 microcontroller chip designed by Raspberry Pi, featuring a dual-core ARM Cortex M0+ processor with a flexible clock speed up to 133 MHz. It includes 264 kB of internal SRAM, 2 MB of on-board flash memory, and accelerated floating-point libraries built into the chip.
Versatile input and output interfaces
The board provides 26 multi-function GPIO pins operating at a fixed 3.3 V logic level. Hardware interfaces include 2 SPI, 2 I2C, 2 UART, 16 controllable PWM channels, 3 12-bit 500 ksps ADC channels, and 8 Programmable I/O (PIO) state machines for custom peripheral support.
Hardware design and programming
Code upload is simple with drag-and-drop programming using USB mass storage over its micro USB port, supporting USB 1.1 in host and device modes. The castellated module edges also allow the board to be soldered flat onto carrier boards, with built-in low-power sleep and dormant modes.
What is in the box
The package contains 1 Raspberry Pi Pico board. The board does not come with pre-soldered headers, so fitting 2.54 mm pitch male pin strip headers is recommended for breadboard prototyping.
