Description
The Raspberry Pi 5 18650 Battery UPS HAT delivers reliable uninterruptible power with a 5.1V, 5A output powered by four 18650 lithium-ion cells. Designed to mount directly beneath the Raspberry Pi 5 via pogo pins, it maintains full access to your board while providing seamless power switching, fast battery charging, and intelligent power management. It is an ideal power solution for makers, educators, and developers deploying smart vehicles, outdoor stations, and remote projects.
Bottom-mounted pogo pin connection
The board attaches directly to the underside of the Raspberry Pi 5 using spring-loaded pogo pins to supply power without extra cabling. This layout leaves the top GPIO header completely accessible, allowing you to stack your preferred HATs and accessories without physical interference.

High-current output and seamless switching
An integrated high-efficiency DC-DC step-down converter delivers up to 5.1V at 5A to reliably meet the high peak power demands of the Pi 5. The advanced power-path management system accepts a wide 6V to 18V input and switches instantly to battery backup if main power fails.

Versatile power outputs and interfaces
In addition to powering the Pi, the board provides two USB Type-A power sockets and two 2-pin XH2.54 5V headers for powering external devices. External power is supplied via a standard 5.5x2.1mm DC barrel jack, and an XH2.54 port allows connection of an external power button.

Four-cell 18650 battery management
Equipped with a 4-cell 18650 battery holder, the HAT supports fast charging up to 3A and incorporates overcurrent, overvoltage, and reverse-connection safeguards. An integrated fuel-gauge system communicates voltage and battery percentage over I2C, backed by on-board charge and discharge status LEDs.
Intelligent power monitoring and safe shutdown
The HAT detects AC power loss via GPIO and can initiate a programmable automatic safe shutdown when battery levels drop. It completely cuts power once the operating system halts to prevent deep discharge, and automatically boots the Pi once external power is restored.
Important battery safety and usage
This HAT requires standard, unprotected 18650 lithium-ion cells and will not function with protected battery models. Always install cells with matching capacity, age, and correct polarity, and ensure power is not supplied simultaneously through the Raspberry Pi USB-C port.
