Description
The micro: Maqueen Lite is an entry-level STEAM educational robotics platform supplied complete with a BBC micro:bit V2 board. Designed for students aged 8 and up, educators, and hobbyists, it provides a hands-on introduction to coding and robotics. The platform supports graphical programming in MakeCode and Mind+ for immediate, interactive learning.
Included micro:bit V2 controller
This bundle includes a BBC micro:bit V2 board alongside a 2-in-1 Type-C and Micro USB cable. The plug-and-play design allows learners to start coding immediately without complex wiring.
All-metal miniature gear motors
Dual N20 all-metal gear motors driven via PWM provide robust driving force and responsive movement. Custom POM bearing wheels deliver reliable traction and obstacle-crossing capability within a compact 81 x 85 x 44 mm footprint.
Integrated sensors and interactive lighting
The chassis is equipped with two infrared line-tracking sensors, an onboard buzzer, and an NEC-compatible infrared receiver. Visual output is provided by two controllable front LEDs and four underbody RGB ambient lights supporting 16 million colours.
Versatile hardware expansion interfaces
The board features a dedicated 5V port for SR04 and SR04P ultrasonic sensors, a 5V I2C interface, and three Gravity extension pins (P0, P1, and P2). Six M3 screw holes allow for mechanical mounting of custom brackets and protective covers.
MakeCode and Mind+ coding support
Students can program Maqueen using Microsoft MakeCode graphical blocks or DFRobot Mind+. The system also accommodates progression to text-based coding in Python and Scratch.
Flexible battery power supply
The vehicle operates on a 3.5V to 5V DC supply, powered by three standard AAA batteries or a 3.6V to 3.7V lithium cell. Batteries are not included in the kit and must be purchased separately.
