Description
The micro: Maqueen Lite is an educational robot platform designed for the BBC micro:bit, ideal for students aged eight and older, educators, and robotics hobbyists. It offers a plug-and-play solution for learning STEAM concepts and coding through hands-on play. Please note that the micro:bit board and batteries are not included.
Graphical programming and software support
Maqueen is fully compatible with Microsoft MakeCode and DFRobot Mind+ graphical programming environments. It allows beginner coders to quickly grasp programming fundamentals using blocks, with Mind+ also offering progression to Python and Arduino.

Multiple remote control methods
The robot features an integrated NEC-protocol infrared receiver and supports radio control via an optional micro:Gamepad and secondary micro:bit. This enables students to create remote-controlled robotic projects and multi-vehicle activities.

Durable all-metal gear motors
Dual N20 all-metal miniature gear motors with PWM speed control provide reliable driving power and responsive handling. Customised POM bearing wheels give the compact 81 x 85 mm chassis smooth movement and strong obstacle-crossing performance.

Integrated sensors and RGB lighting
The chassis comes equipped with two infrared line-tracking sensors, two controllable front LEDs, a buzzer, and four programmable 16-million-colour RGB ambient lights. A dedicated 5V ultrasonic interface is also provided for SR04 and SR04P distance sensors.

Expansion ports and mounting points
Hardware expansion is supported via an onboard 5V I2C interface and three Gravity ports assigned to pins P0, P1, and P2. Six M3 threaded screw holes allow secure mounting of custom brackets, protective covers, and structural additions.

Flexible battery power options
Maqueen operates on an input voltage range of 3.5V to 5V DC, powered by either three standard AAA batteries or a single 3.6V to 3.7V lithium cell. Weighing just 75.55g, the platform is lightweight and easy to transport between classroom and home.
