Description
The Maqueen Plus V3 is an advanced educational robotics platform built for primary and secondary school STEM education and competitive challenges. Powered by a micro:bit, it integrates matrix laser ranging, PID-controlled motors, and hardware-level navigation algorithms for high-precision autonomous movement.
Matrix laser ranging navigation
An 8x8 matrix laser sensor delivers 64-point distance measurement across a 60-degree field of view with refresh rates up to 60Hz. Ranging from 20mm to 4000mm, it pinpoints obstacle positions in real time for advanced path planning and obstacle avoidance.

Built-in line and intersection algorithms
A 5-sensor array features onboard algorithms that automate line tracking and identify four distinct intersection types in real time. These routines process independently on the baseboard, lowering entry barriers while freeing the micro:bit processor for custom strategy code.

Precision motor encoders and PID control
Dual magnetic induction encoders combine with closed-loop PID control to regulate travel distances and steering angles precisely. This provides repeatable, drift-free movement across complex competition courses without requiring manual trial-and-error tuning.

Interactive light sensing and RGB lighting
Dual light intensity sensors support autonomous tasks such as light-tracking and automatic illumination. Output options include two programmable RGB headlights, four WS2812 full-colour ambient LEDs, and an onboard buzzer for audio feedback.

Detachable metal motors with voltage regulation
Finely matched N20 metal motors are enclosed in protective housings and feature a modular, detachable mount for rapid servicing. An independent 5V voltage-stabilising chip delivers consistent vehicle speed regardless of battery discharge.
