Description
The Maqueen Plus V3 is an advanced educational robotics platform powered by a micro:bit, engineered specifically for primary and secondary school STEM education and competitive challenges. It integrates a matrix laser ranging sensor, high-precision motor encoders with PID control, and built-in navigation algorithms for advanced autonomous tasks.
Matrix laser ranging navigation
An onboard 8x8 matrix laser ranging sensor detects obstacles between 20mm and 4000mm across a 60-degree field of view, achieving update rates up to 60Hz. This multi-point spatial perception allows for precise obstacle position tracking and real-time route planning.

Onboard line-tracking algorithms
A five-sensor line-tracking array features dedicated one-touch calibration, supporting digital and analog output modes across five adjustable speed levels. Integrated onboard processing handles line detection independently, freeing up the main micro:bit processor for higher-level logic.

Real-time intersection recognition
The built-in recognition algorithm automatically identifies four standard intersection formats: crossroads, T-junctions, right-turn straights, and left-turn straights. This allows students to tackle complex grid and map navigation challenges in robotics competitions.

Closed-loop PID motor control
Two magnetic induction encoders work with PID control to maintain accurate travel distances and precise turning angles without guesswork. This ensures consistent, repeatable movement across varying track surfaces and competitive tasks.

Dual light sensors and RGB illumination
Dual light intensity sensors support light-seeking behaviours and automated headlights with a 0 to 1023 sensing range. Visual feedback is provided by two programmable RGB headlights and four WS2812 full-spectrum ambient LEDs.

Protected detachable metal gear motors
Two matched N20 metal gear motors feature enclosed housings to keep out debris and a screw-fixed detachable design for quick servicing. A dedicated onboard 5V voltage regulator maintains constant motor speed regardless of battery voltage drops.
