Description
The Maqueen Lite V5 is a pre-assembled educational robot platform designed for micro:bit STEM learning and robotics competitions. Built for students aged eight and up, it features on-chip line tracking, obstacle avoidance, and integrated lighting sensors. It provides educators and makers with a dependable, ready-to-code vehicle without time-consuming mechanical assembly.
One-step on-chip line tracking
An embedded algorithm running directly on the core chip processes readings from the three-sensor line-tracking array. This offloads processing from the micro:bit, allowing smooth single-block navigation alongside simultaneous sensor tasks.
Fully enclosed detachable metal motors
The chassis is driven by two N20 metal gearmotors fully enclosed to protect internal mechanisms from classroom debris. The screw-fixed modular design allows fast motor detachment and replacement to minimise lesson downtime.
Pre-assembled classroom-ready hardware
The robot arrives fully assembled with wheels, motors, and a copper-column reinforced battery box supporting three AA batteries. Built-in reverse connection protection prevents electrical faults during battery installation.
Light perception and RGB lighting
Two onboard light intensity sensors detect directional lighting for light-seeking and light-avoidance coding projects. Output options include two multi-colour RGB headlights and four programmable WS2812 ambient underglow LEDs.
Ultrasonic sensing and audio feedback
An included HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor provides obstacle detection with a mounted measurement range of 5 cm to 50 cm. An integrated infrared receiver and a switchable buzzer allow for remote control navigation and audible alerts.
Expansion and hardware connectivity
The mainboard features two servo ports, three GPIO expansion pins, two I2C interfaces, and six threaded mounting points. Practical maintenance features include an onboard battery power reading function and a firmware upgrade interface.
