Description
The LoRaWAN ESP32-S3 Development Board combines an SX1262 transceiver, 0.96-inch LCD screen, and onboard battery charging into a compact hardware platform operating across 850 to 930MHz. Designed for makers, students, and IoT developers, it provides multi-protocol support for LoRa, LoRaWAN, Meshtastic, and Home Assistant integration. It delivers an accessible, efficient solution for smart home expansion, long-range telemetry, and off-grid radio networking.
Comprehensive LoRa and Meshtastic protocols
The board supports peer-to-peer LoRa, one-to-many communication, standard LoRaWAN networks, and Meshtastic mesh protocols. Powered by the SX1262 RF transceiver with -137dBm receiver sensitivity and up to 22dBm transmission power, it delivers robust wireless communication across long distances.
Dual-core processing and Home Assistant support
Driven by an Xtensa dual-core 32-bit LX7 ESP32-S3 processor running at 240MHz with 4MB flash, the board supports both Arduino and YAML programming. Integration with Home Assistant via ESPHome enables the board to act as a long-range wireless extension unit across large residences, courtyards, and outbuildings.
Onboard display and physical controls
An integrated 0.96-inch LCD display with 160x80 pixel resolution allows real-time viewing of device operation data and communication states. Built-in physical buttons make it easy to switch interfaces and debug field nodes without connecting external displays or computers.

Integrated battery charging and IO interfaces
The board features a dedicated lithium battery interface with an integrated 300mA charging circuit powered over 5V Type-C DC input. Multiple power supply pins and I2C interfaces allow direct, solderless connection to external sensors for rapid prototyping.
DFRobot LoRaWAN ecosystem integration
Part of the DFRobot LoRaWAN series, the board works seamlessly alongside compatible gateways, control terminals, and node modules. Comprehensive Arduino library files and sample code reduce the setup barrier for low-power wide-area network development.

Practical IoT and off-grid applications
Ideal use cases include environmental monitoring, greenhouse soil management, and cross-building smart home links. It can also be deployed in remote outdoor environments as a standalone Meshtastic communicator for off-grid text messaging.
