Customisable RGB character display

The 16x2 character screen supports standard 5x8 font rendering with full RGB backlight adjustment across 16 million colour combinations. It offers two distinct display styles, letting you choose between colourful text on a dark background or dark characters against a coloured backdrop.

Efficient I2C interface

All screen controls, colour adjustments, and keypad inputs communicate over the I2C bus to minimise pin usage. The board eliminates manual contrast tuning and features streamlined wiring, allowing you to focus directly on coding your application.

Integrated navigation buttons

Five on-board tactile push-buttons make it straightforward to cycle through sensor readouts, navigate menus, and configure settings. This makes the HAT well suited for building portable diagnostics and compact operating interfaces.

Pass-through GPIO connectivity

The shield routes out the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins, allowing you to connect extra sensors, relays, and hardware modules while the screen is mounted. It operates at 5V supply voltage with 3.3V logic levels.

Compact and robust dimensions

Measuring 85.0 mm by 56.0 mm by 26.8 mm, the HAT fits neatly atop standard Raspberry Pi boards. It is built to operate reliably across a temperature range of -20 to +70 degrees Celsius.
