Description
The Hiwonder 8-Channel IR Line Follower Sensor Module is a high-performance tracking solution designed for robotics students, educators, and hobbyists building intelligent line-following cars. Driven by a powerful 32-bit ARM processor, this module simplifies complex navigation tasks with real-time data processing and versatile controller compatibility.
High-speed ARM processing
Powered by a 32-bit ARM chip running at up to 72 MHz, this module delivers rapid real-time sensor data acquisition and processing. It outputs both digital and analog signals to ensure precise control and responsiveness for your robotic platform.

Advanced line pattern detection
Equipped with eight industrial-grade infrared sensors, the module accurately detects complex track layouts. It easily navigates challenging patterns such as right-angle turns, sharp U-turns, curves, and cross, T, or Y junctions.

Universal controller compatibility
Featuring onboard GPIO, UART, and I2C interfaces, this tracking module integrates seamlessly with popular development platforms. It is fully compatible with Raspberry Pi, JETSON, ESP32, and STM32 controllers.

One-click intelligent calibration
The innovative one-click calibration technology allows for adaptive line detection across various track maps without any code adjustments. This significantly reduces setup and development time while minimising environmental light interference.

Adjust detection height
Position the line follower at your desired height, ensuring all eight sensors face the white surface. Keep the robot still for three seconds to allow the sensor data to stabilise.

Enter calibration mode
Press and hold the onboard Key button until the red indicator light begins to flash. This signal confirms that the line tracker module has successfully entered its calibration mode.

Record white surface values
Capture the calibration values for your white surface. Once the module successfully learns the surface reflectivity, all onboard indicator lights will flash.

Complete black line learning
Briefly press the Key button once to record the black line values. After learning is complete, the indicator lights will flash and then remain solid, indicating the module is ready for tracking.
