HC-06 Wireless Bluetooth Serial Transceiver Slave Module

The HC-06 is a wireless Bluetooth serial transceiver slave module designed to add wireless data transmission to microcontroller projects. It features an integrated 3.3V regulator and standard serial interface pins for straightforward connection to development boards. This module is ideal for students, hobbyists, and makers building wireless robotics, remote controls, and telemetry systems.

Wireless serial communication

Operating on Bluetooth V2.0+EDR in slave mode, this module provides wireless signal coverage of up to 30 feet. It communicates using a standard UART serial interface configured to a default baud rate of 9600 (8,1,n) and is compatible with standard USB Bluetooth adapters.

Power and microcontroller compatibility

The backplane features an onboard 3.3V LDO regulator accepting an input voltage of 3.6V to 6V, drawing roughly 30mA when unpaired and 10mA once paired. The 3.3V interface level connects directly to 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers such as AVR, PIC, ARM, and MSP430 without needing a MAX232 adapter.

Interface and status indicator

Connections are made via dedicated VCC, GND, TXD, and RXD pins alongside a reserved status pin. An onboard LED clearly indicates the connection state by flashing during search mode and remaining solid once a connection is established.
