HC-06 Wireless Bluetooth Serial Transceiver Module

The HC-06 is a wireless Bluetooth serial slave transceiver module designed to enable simple wireless communication for microcontroller projects. Operating over serial UART, it allows microcontrollers to easily send and receive data from Bluetooth-enabled devices. It is an ideal wireless solution for makers, students, and hobbyists building Arduino and robotics applications.

Serial communication and compatibility

The module features standard serial breakout pins including VCC, GND, TXD, and RXD. Its 3.3V interface level allows direct connection to 5V and 3.3V microcontrollers including AVR, ARM, PIC, 51, and MSP430 without requiring a MAX232 converter.

Power supply and efficiency

Equipped with an onboard 3.3V LDO regulator, the module accepts an input voltage range of 3.6V to 6V (maximum 7V). It draws approximately 30mA when unpaired and drops to around 10mA once paired.

Status indication and operation

An integrated LED indicator provides clear visual feedback, flashing when searching for a Bluetooth connection and remaining steadily lit once paired and the communication port is open. A reserved LED status output pin is also accessible for microcontrollers to monitor link status.
