Description
The FireBeetle ESP8266 IoT Microcontroller is a low-power development board designed for connected electronics and Internet of Things projects. Powered by a 32-bit Tensilica L106 processor with integrated Wi-Fi and 16MB of flash storage, it offers an accessible platform for students, hobbyists, and makers.
32-bit processing and expansive memory
The board is powered by a 32-bit Tensilica L106 MCU running at 80MHz with clock speeds up to 160MHz, supported by 50KB of SRAM. An onboard 16MB outer SPI flash memory provides ample room for program code, firmware storage, and data logging.
Broad programming framework support
Developers can program the FireBeetle ESP8266 using the Arduino IDE, MicroPython, or the RTOS SDK in Linux. This flexible software ecosystem simplifies prototyping while accommodating advanced embedded firmware development.

Integrated 2.4 GHz wireless networking
Supporting IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and full TCP/IP stacks, the board operates across STA, AP, and hybrid STA+AP modes. It also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, enabling remote firmware management over network connections.
Optimised low-power battery management
The board draws just 46uA in low-power mode and consumes only 1.2mW to maintain a Wi-Fi connection in DTIM10. Built-in lithium battery charging circuitry supports a maximum charge current of 500mA alongside 3.7V battery and 5V USB power inputs.
Flexible hardware interfaces and I/O
Hardware connectivity includes 10 digital pins, a 10-bit ADC channel, and dedicated buses for I2C, SPI, I2S, and IR. All connections are routed through standard 2.54mm pitch pin layouts for easy integration with breadboards and FireBeetle shields.
Included package contents
The package includes one FireBeetle ESP8266 board, two 18-pin 2.54mm male headers, and two 18-pin 2.54mm female header holders.
