Description
The FireBeetle 2 ESP32-S3 is a compact edge AI development board designed for on-device machine vision, smart security, and TinyML applications. Featuring an Xtensa dual-core processor with AI acceleration, an included camera module, and generous memory, it provides students, makers, and engineers with a powerful platform for real-time image processing and IoT prototyping.
On-device vision and image recognition
The board pairs an onboard camera interface with the ESP32-S3 hardware AI accelerator for fast neural network inference. It enables standalone computer vision tasks such as face detection, object tracking, and barcode reading without relying on cloud processing.

Wireless video transmission and networking
Built-in 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 5 with Mesh support allow for reliable video streaming and remote data communication. The module also supports Matter protocols and Espressif Wi-Fi Mesh for scalable smart home and sensor network deployments.

Dual-core processing and expanded memory
Powered by a 240 MHz Xtensa LX7 dual-core processor, the board includes 16MB of Flash and 8MB of PSRAM. This expanded memory easily accommodates larger machine learning models like TensorFlow Lite Micro alongside high-resolution image frame buffers.

Dedicated camera interface and GDI port
An isolated power supply circuit for the camera module minimizes electrical interference to ensure cleaner image capture. It also integrates an onboard General Display Interface for plug-and-play screen connectivity.
Integrated battery charging and power management
The onboard power management unit supports lithium-ion battery charging at up to 1A via USB Type-C or 5V VCC inputs. Hardware power control and an operating temperature range from -20°C to 70°C make it well suited for portable and industrial installations.
Multi-platform development support
Developers can program the board using the Arduino IDE, MicroPython, or the ESP-IDF framework. With 26 digital I/O pins, multiple SPI, I2C, and UART buses, it interfaces easily with a wide array of sensors and actuators.
