Description
The FireBeetle 2 ESP32-P4 AI Development Kit is a high-performance embedded platform engineered for edge AI, video processing, and human-machine interface applications. Powered by a dual-core RISC-V processor alongside a dedicated wireless co-processor, this kit is ideal for makers, engineers, and students building smart cameras, robotics vision systems, and interactive displays.
Dual-core RISC-V computing and video acceleration
The ESP32-P4 microcontroller features a 360MHz dual-core RISC-V processor with a single-precision FPU, AI extensions, 32MB PSRAM, and 16MB Flash. Its hardware multimedia engine provides real-time 1080p H.264 video encoding at 30 frames per second alongside integrated ISP, PPA, and 2D-DMA graphical acceleration.

Dedicated Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 co-processor
Networking overhead is offloaded to an onboard ESP32-C6 co-processor, freeing the primary CPU to dedicate full computing capacity to vision models and core logic. It provides low-latency Wi-Fi 6 for smooth video streaming as well as Bluetooth 5 (LE) for simplified device commissioning and local wireless control.
Camera, display, and multimedia interfaces
The board is equipped with Raspberry Pi compatible 2-lane MIPI-CSI and MIPI-DSI ports, parallel camera and display interfaces, an onboard PDM microphone, and a TF card slot. Dual USB Type-C ports provide high-speed USB 2.0 OTG and USB CDC connectivity alongside bus interfaces including I2C, I3C, SPI, I2S, and UART.
Rapid prototyping with IO expansion board
The included IO expansion board offers clearly labelled pin headers for serial peripherals, I2C devices, and motor controllers without messy wiring. Ample power breakout pins ensure clean, stable power delivery when running multiple sensors and displays simultaneously.

Software environment and framework support
The board supports development via both Arduino IDE and ESP-IDF. General board peripherals are fully programmable within Arduino IDE, while advanced MIPI-CSI camera capture and specialised AI functions currently require the ESP-IDF framework.
