Description
The FireBeetle 2 ESP32-C5-U (N4) is a compact, low-power IoT development board powered by a 240 MHz single-core RISC-V processor with dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Thread 1.3, and Zigbee 3.0 connectivity. Designed for makers, students, and engineers, it provides an ideal hardware foundation for smart home nodes, wireless sensing, and battery-powered edge computing.
Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 connectivity
The board supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands with IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax compatibility. Operating on the 5 GHz band avoids crowded 2.4 GHz spectrums for lower latency and higher throughput, while Wi-Fi 6 features like Target Wake Time and OFDMA enhance network efficiency.
Thread 1.3 and Zigbee 3.0
Featuring an IEEE 802.15.4 radio, the board supports Thread 1.3 and Zigbee 3.0 wireless protocols alongside 2.4 GHz low-power communication. This multi-protocol capability makes it suitable for Matter over Wi-Fi, Matter over Thread end devices, and custom Zigbee gateways.
Solar charging and ultra-low power
Power management circuitry supports USB Type-C, 5 V DC, and 4.5 to 6 V solar panel inputs with up to 0.5 A lithium-ion charging and battery voltage monitoring. A switchable 3.3 V output cuts power to external sensors when idle, achieving a deep-sleep current of just 21 μA on battery power.
External U.FL antenna connector
A standard U.FL (IPEX) antenna port allows you to route external 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz antennas outside metal cabinets and waterproof enclosures to prevent signal loss. An included 2.4 GHz flexible printed circuit (FPC) antenna is supplied in the package.
Versatile expansion and peripheral support
The 25.4 × 60 mm footprint provides 18 digital I/O pins, hardware SPI, UART, I2C, I2S, 12-bit ADC channels, and an onboard GDI display port. It supports both C/C++ and MicroPython development for flexible integration into Home Assistant and environmental sensor projects.
