Description
The FireBeetle 2 ESP32-C5 is a versatile IoT development board powered by a 240 MHz RISC-V processor with dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi 6. Designed for smart home enthusiasts, students, and robotics makers, it provides comprehensive multi-protocol wireless connectivity alongside onboard solar battery management. It is ideal for building low-latency robotics controllers, autonomous off-grid sensor nodes, and Home Assistant devices.
RISC-V core and low-power sleep
Powered by a 240 MHz single-core RISC-V processor with 384 KB SRAM and 4 MB Flash, the board delivers responsive compute performance for edge computing. It achieves an ultra-low deep-sleep current of just 21 μA and features a controllable 3.3V power output to fully disconnect external sensors when idle.

Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 connectivity
Featuring both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), the board bypasses congested spectrum bands to deliver low latency and high bandwidth for video streaming and robotics control. Network efficiency is further enhanced by OFDMA for multi-device environments and Target Wake Time to minimise energy consumption.

Solar charging and power management
Equipped with dedicated solar power management, the board accepts direct 4.5V to 6V solar panel inputs via VIN and manages lithium batteries through an onboard PH2.0 interface. With integrated charging up to 0.5A and 5V USB Type-C support, it enables reliable off-grid deployments for remote monitoring.
Multi-protocol smart home hub
Beyond Wi-Fi, the ESP32-C5 integrates Bluetooth 5 (BLE), Thread 1.3, and Zigbee 3.0 via IEEE 802.15.4. This allows the board to operate as a native Zigbee endpoint, an MQTT client for Home Assistant, or a Matter-ready device compatible with major smart home ecosystems.
GDI display port and peripheral expansion
The board features an onboard General Display Interface for solder-free screen hookups, 18 digital I/O pins, hardware UART, I2C, SPI, I2S, and 12-bit ADC channels. It pairs directly with standard 2.54mm breadboards as well as DFRobot Gravity and Fermion series modules.
Arduino and MicroPython support
Developers can program the FireBeetle 2 ESP32-C5 using C/C++ in the Arduino IDE or via MicroPython. This flexibility simplifies rapid prototyping across applications such as indoor air quality logging, soil monitoring, and responsive robotic controls.
