Description

The ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1 is an entry-level development board designed for Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) projects, featuring built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 (LE). Powered by a dual-core Xtensa LX7 processor with hardware neural network acceleration, it is an ideal platform for makers, students, and engineers developing voice and vision edge devices.

The board features an Xtensa dual-core 32-bit LX7 microprocessor running at up to 240 MHz with single-precision floating-point support. It includes hardware acceleration for neural network computing and signal processing workloads, backed by 512 KB SRAM, 384 KB ROM, and 4 MB SPI flash.

Integrated onboard hardware and power

Equipped with an onboard 5 V to 3.3 V LDO regulator, a 3.3 V power LED, and dedicated Boot and Reset buttons, the board simplifies firmware development. It also includes an addressable RGB LED connected directly to GPIO48 for quick visual feedback.

Dual USB interfaces for debugging

Developers can utilise both a Micro-USB port linked to a 3 Mbps USB-to-UART bridge and a native full-speed USB OTG port. The native USB interface complies with USB 1.1 protocols and supports flashing, communication, and direct JTAG debugging.

Breadboard-ready GPIO breakout headers

Most general-purpose input/output pins are routed to standard headers on both sides of the board for seamless breadboard prototyping. This accessible layout allows easy connection of external sensors, actuators, and expansion modules.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth mesh, and edge applications

With complete 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 (LE) mesh capabilities, the board is suited for connected edge devices. Common applications include wake word detection, speech command recognition, face detection, smart home panels, and smart speakers.
