DMX Shield for Arduino Leonardo

The DMX Shield for Arduino Leonardo is an add-on board that connects your Arduino to DMX512 lighting networks and controllers. Driven by a MAX485 transceiver, it functions as a DMX master, slave, or RDM transponder. It is an ideal interface for makers, students, and lighting designers automating custom stage effects and art installations.

DMX512 and RDM integration

Equipped with a MAX485 transceiver, the shield functions as a DMX master, DMX slave, or RDM transponder. Each unit includes a unique RDM device ID from an assigned range to ensure global uniqueness on lighting networks.

Neutrik 3-pin XLR connectors

The board features genuine Neutrik 3-pin XLR connectors, including one male and one female port. This provides direct, reliable connectivity with standard stage lighting cabling.

Configurable communication jumpers

Onboard jumpers allow you to route transmit data to TX or Digital pin 4, and receive data to RX or Digital pin 3. Digital pin 2 can be configured for software-controlled master and slave mode, which is required for RDM operation.

Easy sketch upload jumper

When using the hardware RX and TX pins, an enable and disable jumper isolates the shield during programming. This allows you to upload new Arduino sketches without having to detach the shield from the board.
