Description
The DC Motor Driver HAT (V1.0) for Raspberry Pi is an expansion board designed to drive up to two DC motors or DC motors with encoders. Powered by an onboard STM32 coprocessor and TB6612FNG driver, it is an ideal solution for students, makers, and robotics hobbyists building smart vehicles and mobile platforms.
Dual-channel motor and encoder control
The board drives two DC motors or encoder-equipped DC motors for precise motion control. Its integrated TB6612FNG driver delivers 1.2A continuous current per channel with peak handling up to 2A.
Onboard STM32 coprocessor over I2C
An onboard STM32 microprocessor interprets motion commands from the Raspberry Pi over I2C and calculates motor signals directly. It operates using a default I2C address of 0x10 to keep Raspberry Pi GPIO pins free.
Wide operating voltage range
Supporting a wide motor input voltage range of 7V to 12V with 5V logic, this HAT is well suited for common multi-cell battery packs used in mobile robotics.
Compact form factor for mobile robotics
With a compact footprint of 65 by 30 mm, this driver easily integrates into DIY smart cars, self-balancing robots, tracked tanks, and robotic fish.
