Description
The Arduino MKR WAN 1310 is a compact microcontroller board that provides a practical and cost-effective way to add LoRa connectivity to low-power projects. Powered by the SAMD21 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0+ processor and an integrated Murata radio module, it is well suited for IoT experimentation and environmental monitoring. It is an ideal platform for makers, students, and educators building long-range wireless applications.
Low-power performance and battery management
The MKR WAN 1310 features refined power control that can reduce consumption down to 104uA when properly configured. It includes a built-in battery charger compatible with rechargeable Li-Ion or Li-Po cells of at least 1024 mAh capacity, and can also run directly from a 5V USB power supply.
Long-range communication and security
Wireless connectivity is provided by the CMWX1ZZABZ LoRa module operating on 433, 868, or 915 MHz carrier frequencies with a bundled 2dB pentaband antenna. An embedded ATECC508 secure element provides hardware-based security for storing network credentials and encryption certificates.
Expanded memory and storage
Equipped with 256 KB of internal CPU flash and 32 KB of SRAM, the board also includes 2MB of external QSPI flash memory. This dedicated storage facilitates local data logging, script command storage, and over-the-air configuration updates when connectivity is optimal.
Flexible hardware interfaces
The board offers 8 digital I/O pins, 13 PWM channels, 7 analog inputs with up to 12-bit ADC resolution, and a 10-bit DAC analog output. Dedicated communication ports include UART, SPI, and I2C, alongside Full-Speed USB device and host capabilities.
