Description
The YDLIDAR GS5 is an ultra-compact linear array solid-state LiDAR sensor offering an 85° field of view and detection spanning 70mm to 1000mm. Built with no moving parts and offering 25klux sunlight resistance, it is ideal for students, makers, and engineers developing obstacle avoidance systems for AGVs, service robots, and industrial automation.
Wide field obstacle mapping
An 85° field of view combined with a short 70mm minimum blind zone provides comprehensive coverage for close-range environmental perception. Included Point Cloud Viewer software simplifies integration with real-time visualisation, debugging, and data logging.

Durable solid-state construction
Featuring a solid-state architecture with no moving parts, the GS5 eliminates mechanical wear to deliver over 10,000 hours of maintenance-free service life. The sensor module weighs just 8g and measures 48.5 × 25 × 13.5mm for seamless integration into tight enclosures.

Class I eye-safe design
The sensor operates under Class I eye-safe standards, ensuring safe deployment in consumer, educational, and industrial environments. It provides dependable operation while withstanding direct vibration across a working temperature range of -10°C to 25°C.

High-precision distance measurement
A 0.54° angular resolution allows the module to detect targets down to 6mm in diameter with multi-stage accuracy down to ≤3% error within 300mm. It resists ambient sunlight up to 25klux, maintaining steady ranging at frequencies between 7.5Hz and 28Hz.

Flexible UART and chaining support
Communication is handled via a standard UART interface operating at 3.2V to 3.4V, supporting up to 3 chained units on a single serial line. Developers can prototype rapidly using the provided Linux SDK alongside the included USB adapter board and Type-C cable.
Versatile robotics applications
The sensor is suited for robotic vacuum navigation, collision prevention on AGVs, security perimeter monitoring, and industrial object positioning. The boxed kit includes one GS5 sensor module, a USB adapter board, and a USB Type-C cable.
